Labels and Tribes | Agnes Toma S/S 2012 Collection

Duality is the key concept of Agnes Toma's Spring Summer '12 line. With a 21st century tribal woman in mind, the designer takes on the challenge of creating a collection that emphasizes this character's love towards brand labels as well as it's dislike for labeling people, a character that's both complex and complexed.
This was one of my favorite collections from the runway shows I got to attend last month. It's not just about the great use of color and materials; what really got my attention was how the designs played with the ideas of feminine and masculine, soft and rough, and how the collection materialized into this wide range of garments which celebrate the female figure.
