Your Heineken by Jon Kortajarena

Feb 27, 2011

Spanish model Jon Kortajarena, who has worked with brands such as Lagerfeld, Tom Ford, H&M, Lacoste, Pepe Jeans, Diesel and many others has now transitioned into design. Looks like the Coca-Cola Daft Punk edition isn't the only collaboration generating buzz lately.

Check out more photos from the event and an interview here!

During Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week, Jon unveiled his design for a limited edition Heineken bottle, which uses "cement as a material (for the design) because of it's straightforwardness and capacity for creating trends on a global level. It is the ultimate 'antiornamental' material", Kortajarena stated.

Your Heineken by Jon Kortajarena is priced at 15.95 Euros (6pack) and can be bought on

3D Projection Mapping - One of The Best Uses of 3D

Feb 26, 2011

First of all, let me admit that I was never that into the whole 3D revival that's been going on the last few years. Probably because I like to think of myself as a movie buff and when it comes to movies, this technology was most of the time equivalent to bad writing and horrid acting.
However, I'm not saying 3D doesn't have it's benefits. Being something that's meant to create an amazing  visual image, I believe that it's better suited for communication and advertisement - especially in a world overflowing with ads and information, where there's a constant search for something that draws the viewer's attention.
Such is the case of video projections, a concept that's really been taking off.

Best part? No need for special glasses, so you don't have to steal them next time you go see a movie! Projection mapping uses 3d surfaces such as buildings for the content it displays, creating some pretty spectacular images.
Here are some videos so you can get an idea of what I'm talking about. What do you think?

Feb 25, 2011

Spanish football player Gerard Piqué is the new face of Mango's menswear collection. The representatives over at Mango say the key to his signing was "his success and professionalism, as well as his imposing and elegant image".
Curious how the shooting went and what the results are? Check out the awesome campaign photos and a behind the scenes video next:

Coca Cola Daft Punk Limited Edition

Feb 24, 2011

Coca Cola, in collaboration with electronic music duo Daft Punk, has created a special look for their bottle. The design, available in gold and silver will be out as a limited edition starting next month, only in France.

Coca-Cola is one of the most iconic brands of all times, and it saddens me that while other countries keep having collaborations, special editions and even special flavors, in Romania such things don't exist. I remember at one point the vanilla flavor was on the market, but just for a short period of time. Shouldn't there be at least some kind of interest in regards to this? Since there are so many concepts and prototypes around the internet, I think designers would love the opportunity to create something new.

Design by Leftovers Furniture Collection

Feb 22, 2011

Swedish designers Linda and Jona Netsman launched an eclectic, colorful furniture collection called Design by Leftovers. As the name would suggest, the collection is made out of recycled materials, such as used furniture or scraps of fabric, everything undergoing a serious upgrade process. Taking into account the materials used, one would only be surprised that the selling price for the armchair pictured above is almost 5500€, while a sofa goes for just short of 10000€.
View more pieces from the collection next:

What do you think? Does design come at a price? Or are we merely looking at an overpriced DIY project?
