Farewell 2011!

I can honestly say that 2011 just flew by, it's unreal! Maybe it's because it has been such a busy year for me, but still, I'm sure I'll be writing down 2011 in my notebooks for several more month now, hahaha.
I wanted to take a moment and thank you all for reading my blog throughout this year, I really appreciate it, and I promise to try and make 2012 even better in regards to posts and content!
As a matter of fact, I already have numerous new year's resolutions, I just hope I'll be able to fulfill as many of them as possible.
For now, I leave you with several inspiring photos for the occasion.

And since everyone likes a toast, here is the perfect cocktail - The French 75:

Ingredients 
3 ounces gin 
3 ounces fresh lemon juice 
4 teaspoons superfine granulated sugar 
1 1/2 cups ice cubes 
1 cup chilled champagne 
Lemon twists for garnish 


Preparation 
In a cocktail shaker, combine gin, lemon juice, sugar, and ice cubes and shake to chill. 
Strain cocktails into 2 champagne flutes and top off with champagne. 
Garnish glass with a lemon twist.

Bring on the Glitz! Simon Nessman for Vogue Hombre Mexico F/W 2011

Although Canadian model Simon Nessman admits he doesn't choose anything too flashy when it comes to his personal style, he did dress up for this Alexander Neumann photoshoot.
Styled by John Tan in garments from the likes of Prada or Salvatore Ferragamo, Simon posed for this Vogue Hombre Mexico shoot, that was all about luxury and making a statement.
I think this is a great way of pulling inspiration for a new year's eve party, or quite frankly any other event worth dressing up for, as there are lots of amazing designs -  yes, the fur vest is totally winking at me! However I do think that wearing just one of these pieces would be ideal, if you don't want to risk going overboard in terms of style.

Tom Ford | Visionaries: Inside the Creative Mind Documentary

Tom Ford is a name that needs no introduction. He is one of the most influential people of our times and undoubtedly one of the most creative - a true visionary.

I'm not referring just to the fashion side of Tom Ford, because I think that would by no means be a sufficient explanation to what he is all about; no, there's much more going on. In the documentary "Visionaries: Inside the Creative Mind" that aired on OWN (The Oprah Winfrey Network) this October, we got the privilege of taking a behind the scenes look at the world of Tom Ford.

The designer talked about his career, starting with his move to New York, wanting to pursue acting, his transition into architecture and fashion, and later filmmaking. Also, we got to see a part of his design process, and I must say that it's quite a treat to be able to catch a glimpse into this world that's usually off limits.

I would like to emphasize how much I admire Tom Ford, I think he's nothing less than an icon. It was impressive listening to him talk about how he used to incorporate fashion into his architecture projects, and how later, when he graduated, he created a fashion portfolio and went to interviews and said he studied at Parsons, omitting that it was architecture, not fashion.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town

This year I impressed even myself, because I actually got to buy my loved ones their Christmas presents ahead of time. With me, this is usually a last minute thing, but seeing how this year I had a bit of free time on my hands,  I really wanted to go shopping for presents.
I'm going to take a couple of days off, so I can spend some time with my family, but I'll be back really soon, to announce the lucky winner of my holiday giveaway!

Eddie Redmayne & Cara Delevingne for Burberry Spring 2012 | First Look

The Burberry trench is without doubt an iconic piece of clothing, and the brand is definitely one of my favorites - saying that Christopher Bailey, the label's chief creative officer, is anything less than a genius would be a lie.
And here are the first images from Burberry's sping 2012 campaign, featuring British actor Eddie Redmayne and Cara Delevingne, shot by the very talented Mario Testino. A combination like these of course has to result in splendid photography. What do you think?

The Italian label prides itself on the tailoring quality of the clothes, as well as it's permanent research of technology and materials, which results in charm and comfort.

Make it Work Moment

No, although it may seem like it, this is not one of Project Runway's unconventional materials challenges. This is how my school's foyer looked like today; guess getting to see cool works like these in the making is one of the perks of being an architecture student.
The students from the design department gathered to create these unique garments for a workshop. The theme was "Enchanting VS Techno-pop".
Paired off in teams, each tried to best convey their own vision on the subject, the result being a great range of ingenious designs. The only thing I regret is not getting to see the finished works - still, I'm sure they looked amazing, simply because the work in progress did as well.

It's a Lucky Holiday

Noah Mills is joined by Sean O'Pry and Tony Ward for Lucky Brand's 2011 holiday campaign. Expect lots of plaid, knits, jeans and leather jackets that create an effortless look. Pretty much a perfect casual choice.
Looks like red is the brand's top choice for this holiday season.

Joyeux Noël! Marché de Noël 3 Designer Gift Fair

Bucharest got a bit of a french vibe as the third edition of Marché de Noël took place. This designer gift fair was the first one I got to attend and I was really overwhelmed by the amount of great designs that I found there.
I'm sure this event was a great opportunity for those who haven't yet purchased their Christmas presents to get something beautiful, or at the very least get inspired. I myself bought some wonderful Christmas ornaments from Atelier13.
 As I've said, there were plenty of amazing things to choose from, so here are a few photos that I took:
